Helping artists connect worldwide. A platform for young and emerging creatives, students and more to find each other, collaborate, and build friendships.
Mélange was founded in 2024 by 23-year-old Sebastian Batchelor at Ormond College, University of Melbourne, while studying between Melbourne and the University of Edinburgh. The platform launched to a sold-out Mélange and Satsuma Music and Art Festival in Melbourne in May 2024.
Since then the team has expanded, a European presence solidified, projects across the music and art world born and completed, and a digital and physical following established with more than 100,000 monthly meta insights as of September 2025.
We made this as we were unsure where to look for people our age in the creative and non-creative sector, and not being able to stop and pause for a minute. Instead we want to encourage meets in a more fractured world, as to getting to really know someone, connect with them and maybe start something that celebrates a new friendship are some of life's most valuable assets.
The arts and creative industries suffer from asymmetric information, unequal opportunity, and inefficient value flows — preventing creative workers, especially outside large cities, from accessing fair exposure, economic opportunities and meaningful collaboration.
Mélange operates across three cities on three continents — each chosen for their distinct creative energy and the communities already forming within them.
